Claude Tag transforms Slack into an AI-powered workspace where an intelligent agent monitors conversations, executes delegated tasks, and proactively surfaces relevant updates.

Overview

Anthropic has launched Claude Tag, an always-on agentic AI integrated directly into Slack that functions as a persistent team member rather than an on-demand tool. Currently in beta for Enterprise and Team customers, it replaces the previous Claude in Slack app with a significantly more capable system.

Key Features

Ambient Monitoring

Unlike traditional AI assistants that respond only when prompted, Claude Tag can passively monitor channel conversations via an ambient mode. It surfaces updates, relevant context, and actionable items without being explicitly asked.

Task Delegation

Team members can tag Claude Tag in channels to assign tasks. The agent can access connected codebases or data sources, execute multi-step workflows, and report back with results.

Proactive Intelligence

Claude Tag proactively identifies information gaps, flags potential issues in conversations, and suggests next steps based on the ongoing context of discussions.

Early Results

Anthropic reports that Claude Tag is already writing approximately 65% of internal code for some team workflows, demonstrating significant productivity gains in software development contexts.

Availability

Claude Tag is currently available in beta for:

  • Enterprise plans (with expanded rollout planned)
  • Team plans

The feature is not yet available for Pro or individual users.

What This Means

Claude Tag represents a shift from AI as a reactive tool to AI as an active participant in team workflows. This ambient intelligence model may reshape how organizations think about AI integration in the workplace.
